Scott McLaughlin is one of the world’s most famous drivers. Born and raised in New Zealand, he’s the youngest person to win the V8 Supercars Championship. At just 17 years of age, he managed to secure his legacy in doing this.

He has also had many successes in other championships and remains one of the best race car drivers in the world. Other than his undeniable talent, there are many things that have led to him reaching this kind of success.

To show how Scott McLaughlin achieved all this, let’s take a look at his career and everything that he has done to stay at the top of the ranking. Then we’ll go over some of the advice that you can use to make sure you reach your true potential.

Scott’s Career

Scott entered the world of racing at just eight years old, even though it has been something that he showed interest in at an even younger age. Racing runs is his family, and although his parents never forced him to race, they’ve had a big influence on him.

At the age of eight, Scott started racing karts. His love for the sport pushed him to keep doing it, so he participated in the Rotax Max Challenge, representing his home country.

After realising that racing is something that he wants to do as a career, he started thinking about racing the V8s. After leaving school to pursue this dream, he began his fabrication apprenticeship in order to stay as close to the sport as possible.

In 2010, he got his first chance to race the Fujitsu V8 Supercar Series at 16 years of age. Unfortunately, he didn’t make his debut due to issues with the competition license. However, the year after he won his first race at the Queensland Raceway, and claimed the title in 2012.

In the same year, Scott entered the International V8 Supercars Championship as a co-driver for Jonathon Webb. After performing well, GRM (Garry Rogers Motorsport) signed him and he became a full-time driver in 2013.

Ever since then, he’s been one of the most successful drivers. He’s managed to stay at the top of the rankings, achieving one success after another. Since this is something that not a lot of people can achieve, it’s safe to say that we can turn to him for advice. Here are two simple, yet very powerful tips that helped Scott reach his career goals.

Tip #1 – Transform Your Fear

Dropping out of school to chase after your dreams isn’t something that a lot of people are capable of doing. However, this is exactly what Scott did, and that made him what he is today. In order to make sure he could stay in sports, in case his career didn’t take off, he completed the fabrication apprenticeship.

Still, he always believed in himself, as he states that every young driver should. Even though he might not have expected the tremendous success that he’s achieved, he’s always believed that there’s a place for him in the world of racing.

As we know by now, Scott’s courage paid off and led to many successes. He took the risky road, and came out a winner.

Tip #2 – Take Care of Yourself

Driving is by no means an easy sport. It can exhaust the body and expose you to many unfavourable environments. For this reason, making sure that you’re capable of enduring all kinds of tough conditions is paramount.

One of the biggest threats for drivers is dehydration, due to the extreme heat conditions. To avoid this, Scott uses SOS Hydration, as it provides his body with all the necessary fluids and electrolytes he needs to keep going. Of course, there are many other things you need to do to makes sure your body is strong enough. Exercising and maintaining a good diet ensure that you have enough energy to perform at your best.

The Final Word

There’s no doubt that Scott McLaughlin is a no joke driver. There are very few people his age that have achieved the success of such proportion. With the right mindset, as well as the right techniques, he manages to keep his place in the championships.

He finds SOS to be an important part of his rehydration strategy. Our drinks can help every active person improve their performance and advance in their career. If you want to see how it works, you can find out all about it in our shop.
